What Man City players think of Jeremy Doku's instant impact since transfer

Rodri has echoed Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola's surprise at how quickly Jeremy Doku has adapted to life at Manchester City.

Doku's electric start was already impressive, and then he became the youngest player to assist four times in a Premier League game, and also to provide five goal contributions in a game, when he single-handedly dismantled Bournemouth on Saturday. His one-two with Rodri to open the scoring, followed by four assists, catapulted him to the top of the City assist charts for the season with six. He has nine goal involvements in total in 12 appearances, at an average of a goal or assist every 72 minutes.

And Rodri spoke in glowing terms of the recent arrival after the game, revealing that nobody in the City dressing room expected him to settle in so quickly.

"I think we were quite surprised in this sense because it’s not normal," said Rodri, after it was put to him that most players need a season to adapt to Pep Guardiola's style - but not Doku.

"He is young and came from another league and he adapted. His strength maybe helped because the league is physical. He is involved so much and is giving the team what it needs.

"Since the first one or two games he played here he has evolved into the way we play. He has been fantastic. We all know his ability to dribble, his power, his strength, and now he understands the game, the way we play. You can see in the first goal.
