What just happened in Cardiff City's pre-season clash with Hertha Berlin

Cardiff City concluded their pre-season tour of Austria with a 1-1 draw against Hertha Berlin at the Koasastadion in Tirol.

Linus Gechter's header after eight minutes initially looked enough to condemn Cardiff to defeat, only for Callum Robinson to come off the bench and restore parity late on.

Chris Willock and Calum Chambers were also introduced for their City debuts, although there will be concerns over Jamilu Collins and Isaak Davies, both of whom were withdrawn after the break with suspected injuries.

Davies nearly put his side in front after just two minutes, but was denied by the fingertips of goalkeeper Tjark Ernst, in what was Cardiff's best chance of a tightly-contested first half.

Hertha took the lead just six minutes later. Gechter rising brilliantly to flick Marc-Oliver Kempf's cross beyond Ethan Horvath and into the net.

Neither keeper had much to do for the rest of the half, but there were some promising signs of intent from Cardiff, with Aaron Ramsey and Callum O'Dowda in particular showing encouraging glimpses in midfield.

Collins too looked lively, and the sight of him seemingly limping off after 54 minutes will surely be a concern. Manolis Siopis then saw a low shot held moments later as Cardiff sought to find a way back into the contest, but chances remained few and far between.

Bulut was then forced into another change on the hour mark, with Davies replaced by Robinson, before Chambers was brought in for his Bluebirds debut.

Willock was then among five further substitutions as the game ticked into the final 15 minutes, and the alterations appeared to inject some energy into Cardiff's final third efforts. Indeed, Willock himself produced a lively cameo.
