What is the latest with Danny Loader ever since leaving Reading FC?

When Danny Loader signed for FC Porto in 2020, many football fans were left wondering why Reading had allowed a talented young player to leave on a free.

The fact of the matter was, though, that the talented youngster struggled for game time at Reading, particularly in the latter stages of his time with the Royals.

Under the management of Mark Bowen in 2019-20, Loader was limited to just 7 appearances in the Championship – something that clearly contributed towards his exit.

As above, in the summer of 2020, Loader joined Portuguese giants FC Porto – signing on a two-year deal.

It’s likely that the plan when Loader signed for Porto was that he would be spending a lot of time with the team’s ‘B’ side in Liga Sabseg – the Portuguese second division – but he does have two first team appearances to his name.

It is with Porto B, though, that Loader has had a big impact and developing his career nicely.

With the outfit, Loader has appeared 56 times in the Portuguese second tier, notching 16 goals and four assists.

On his Twitter recently, Loader shared an image of himself on the streets of Porto, suggesting the 21-year-old is enjoying his life in Portugal off the pitch as well as on it.

So what does the future hold for Loader?

The Englishman’s two-year contract is up in the summer, but according to Transfermarkt, Porto have an option to extend it for a further two years.

Given how much Loader is featuring for Porto B and the development he is showing on the pitch, Loader looks set to have his contract extended and remain in Porto for at least a further two years.
