What is the latest news with Scott Twine at MK Dons amid previous West Ham/Nottingham Forest links?

MK Dons playmaker Scott Twine was one of the big winners at Sunday’s EFL Awards – scooping the League One Player of the Season gong and being named in the League One Team of the Season. 

The 22-year-old has been outstanding this term, scoring 16 times and providing 13 assists, and you have to feel it should be his last in the third tier – whether or not Liam Manning’s side are able to secure promotion.

He only arrived last summer but the likes of Nottingham Forest and West Ham United have been linked with Twine previously and they would likely be among the clubs keen to capitalise if MK Dons don’t go up.

The attacking midfielder signed “a long-term deal” when he joined from Swindon Town last summer and it is likely to be costly to prize him away from Stadium MK.

Speaking after he scooped two awards on Sunday, Twine revealed just how much he was enjoying his time at the League One club in comments that may leave MK Dons fans optimistic that he could stay put.

He said: “I’ve loved it from the first minute of pre-season, it has been such a good season and it has gone so quickly as well. I almost don’t want it to stop”

Twine added: “I knew moving here would be right for me and I’m so happy I made that decision.

“I cannot speak highly enough of the players, staff and the club for making me feel so welcome.

“Everyone that plays here loves it and there’s a good reason. It’s a special club.”

MK Dons’ hopes of keeping hold of the star-on-the-rise will likely hinge on which division they’re playing in next season.

They’re outside the top two on goal difference at the moment but have to hope for two slip-ups from Rotherham United, who have a game in hand over them.
