What is the latest news with Gavin Bazunu as Sheffield United eye Man City man?

Gavin Bazunu looks set to be a man in demand this summer transfer window, as the young goalkeeper attracts interest from the EFL.

Bazunu has spent time on loan at Portsmouth this season and has had a good campaign in Sky Bet League One, with him joining from Manchester City.

Indeed, he has featured over 40 times in the league for the club and made himself a regular at Fratton Park, with Danny Cowley describing him as one of the best ‘keepers he has worked with.

Tht said, then, it’s perhaps no surprise to hear that, according to The Sun, Sheffield United are keen on signing him, regardless of what division they are in for next season.

Pompey will be in League One again next year and Manchester City may therefore want Bazunu to move elsewhere to have him playing higher up.

The Blades, of course, are going to be doing that regardless of where they finish this season, too, and so in that sense they already tick a box.

A young goalkeeper at the age of 20, Bazunu has shown he has ability and a head beyond his years between the sticks, and if the Blades want to add a new stopper in the summer, there’d be few better options available to them, arguably.

Of course, Wes Foderingham and Adam Davies are still knocking around and both are solid options so it remains to be seen just how Heckingbottom is going to play it.

Bazunu is ready for a step up, though, and the men in red and white present exactly that.
