What Ilkay Gundogan said when asked about his Man City future after FA Cup win vs Man United
Ilkay Gundogan reiterated that a decision has not yet been made on his future at Manchester City following his heroics in the FA Cup final.
City are now just one game away from becoming the second English team to win the treble after they defeated the first, Manchester United, at Wembley on Saturday. Gundogan got the opening goal after just 13 seconds when he struck a stunning volley from 25 yards following a sloppy clearing header.
Bruno Fernandes levelled from the spot after Jack Grealish was penalised for a handball in the penalty area but captain fantastic Gundogan delivered a big moment once again as he scored another volley in the second half that crept in past David de Gea.

The winning brace comes off the back of the doubles he scored against Leeds and Everton respectively to get City over the line in the Premier League title race and it's no surprise that Guardiola and City supporters are desperate for him to stay at the Etihad. Gundogan's contract is due to expire at the end of the month and it's still not clear what his future holds, with Barcelona heavily linked with a move for the German.
When asked about his future by the BBC after the game, he remained coy. "To be honest, I don't need these kinds of days to feel appreciated and to feel special in this club," he said. "I know that, that's why I'm here seven years, all the ups and downs that I've had so far. Nothing is decided yet, so we're going to see what is going to happen."
When asked about a potential new contract for Gundogan, Guardiola replied: "Txiki [Begiristain, City director of football] is working and hopefully we can do it.”
