'What I learned' - Jarrad Branthwaite opens up on new target amid Man United transfer interest

Jarrad Branthwaite puts his rapid development that has attracted the interest of Manchester United down to the confidence shown in him by Sean Dyche at Everton last season.

The 22-year-old has been the subject of two failed bids from Old Trafford this summer and United are refusing to meet Everton's £70m asking price. They are expected to complete the signing of 18-year-old centre-back Leny Yoro for an initial £52m this week, although could turn their attention back to Branthwaite if the Toffees show signs of compromise.

Branthwaite played 35 of Everton's 38 Premier League games last season, returning to the club having benefitted from a loan spell at Ruud van Nistelrooy's PSV Eindhoven in 2022/23. The Cumbrian took his opportunity at Goodison and became a key member of the team last season, with Everton's defensive record crucial in their Premier League survival.

“I think for any young person, any young player, it's about playing as many games as you can and that gives you the experience you need," he told the club's official website.

“You can only get experience in games and taking that into each game that I've done last season. It helped me massively to put in the performances which I did.
