What Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw said to persuade Jadon Sancho to choose Man United over Liverpool

Both Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw played key roles in bringing Jadon Sancho to Manchester United last summer.

United pushed hard to sign the former Borussia Dortmund man last year having missed out on his signature previously. United weren't the only clubbed tipped to make a move for Sancho, with Liverpool and Chelsea both said to have been keen to make a move for the youngster.

Sancho has revealed some of his international colleagues were eager to offer advice as he weighed up his options ahead of a move, with four United players trying desperately to convince him to make the switch to Old Trafford.

He told Sky Sports Germany : "I've met Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw with the national team. They always said: 'Come to United'.

"There were also the guys from Chelsea and Liverpool, who all tried to convince me of their club. But it only really got serious after the European Championship."

Sancho has had his struggles since making the move to United. The former Dortmund man scored just once in his first 18 league appearances at his new club, failing to provide a single assist in that time.

However, his form has drastically improved in recent weeks. He was recently awarded Manchester United's player of the month award for February having notched four goal contributions in his last five league games.
