What Harry Kane said to Ange Postecoglou in private chat amid Manchester United interest

Ange Postecoglou revealed he's had a "good chat" with Harry Kane but admits he did not speak about the Tottenham striker's future.

The Australian walked into a transfer saga when he took over as Spurs boss in June, with the future of his talisman up in the air amid interest from Manchester United and Bayern Munich. Erik ten Hag had long earmarked the 29-year-old as his priority target as he looks to add more goals to his squad.

However, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is refusing to entertain offers and United have moved on, but Bayern are reportedly preparing a third bid for the 29-year-old worth more than €80million, while Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be joining the race.

"I had a good chat with Harry," Postecoglou said on Monday. "As I said before (in his first press conference), nothing earth-shattering or defining from what people are seeking.

"Just a good chat. I introduced myself and we spoke mainly about the club and where he thinks it’s at and where he thinks we can improve things. (We’ve been) training ever since, it’s been good.

Asked whether Kane gave any indication of where he will be playing next season, the Australian added. "Again, I said the discussion wasn’t really about that. It was more about the collective and what we’re doing. Harry’s the same as all the other players, you know. It’s not something I ask when they walk through the door, ‘Have you got a ticket or not?’.
