What happened when Manchester United's new signing Antony met Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez

Manchester United's incoming signing Antony had a heated confrontation with Liverpool's new striker Darwin Nunez when the pair met in the Champions League.

The Brazilian winger was at Carrington on Bank Holiday Monday as his move from Ajax to United edges towards completion. Erik ten Hag's side initially seemed reluctant to pay the figure Ajax wanted, however a fee of €95m plus €5m in add-ons has now been agreed.

On his arrival at Old Trafford, Antony will be welcomed by his former teammate Lisandro Martinez who also made the switch from the Johan Cruyff Arena this summer. However, one rival player already has previous with the 22-year-old.

During Ajax's 2-2 draw with Benfica in the first leg of their Champions League clash last season, the two players came to blows as they tussled for the ball on the touchline. Antony and Nunez squared up to one another before the soon-to-be United man appeared to headbutt the striker.

Nunez crashed to the deck in front of his home fans but fortunately for Antony, he only received a yellow card for the incident. The 22-year-old seemed to make amends with Nunez following the incident as they shared an apologetic handshake.

Liverpool's summer signing has proved already that Antony would not be able to get away with that sort of confrontation in the Premier League. During the Merseyside club's draw with Crystal Palace, Nunez was sent off for a similar clash with Joachim Anderson.
