What Guardiola said at half-time in Man City win over West Ham

Pep Guardiola told his side not to panic at half time in their weekend clash with West Ham as they were playing well despite being behind.

That's according to new Manchester City midfielder Matheus Nunes, who came on for his debut in the match. The Blues went in a goal down at the interval after James Ward-Prowse stooped low to head the Hammers into the lead.

David Moyes' side were unbeaten going into the match and in great form but despite going in at the break losing, Guardiola didn't want his team to change how they were playing.

“He said first to ‘keep going’ because we were playing well and creating chances," Nunes revealed. "We didn’t score but he said, ‘we were playing good and carry on’ and that’s what we did."

City came roaring out of the traps in the second half and were level within a minute when Jeremy Doku drove inside and slotted home his first goal for the club. The momentum was in the Blues' favour but it took until the 76th minute for Bernardo Silva to put them in front before Erling Haaland sealed the win.

Nunes came on for his debut in the 67th minute and was delighted to play for his new club for the first time. Now he's setting his sights on playing the best he can wherever he's selected to play.

“It was very good - I was waiting for that since I arrived," he said. "I’m happy to make my debut today and to help the team get the win. I’m very happy to be here - it’s a very united team and very strong with a lot of quality players.

“I just enjoy being part of it. I try to do my best and that’s what my mentality is always like. Hopefully I can play my best every week and help
