What Erik ten Hag wants Man United to do better against West Ham after 'huge' Liverpool FC draw

Erik ten Hag has urged his players to be better in possession when they face West Ham at the London Stadium this afternoon.

Manchester United head to the capital for their final game before Christmas this lunchtime and will hope to build on last weekend's positive performance at Anfield. Ten Hag's side came away with a 0-0 draw after keeping Liverpool quiet for large parts with a resilient defensive showing.

But the critic would suggest United should have been better in possession, even in the absence of Bruno Fernandes. Chances did come when they were able to bring the ball forward and Ten Hag has demanded more of that in search of three points later today.

''First of all [it was a great] defensive plan [vs Liverpool], but we have to keep disciplined and it was a huge team performance on the defending part," Ten Hag told MUTV. "It gave us control in the game.

"If you can do it against Liverpool, I would say you can do it against any opponent. What we have to add is some more quality with possession on the ball.

"In moments we brought them problems and if we hit them, if we made better set-ups or if we were more comfortable on the ball, we can make more triangles and create more third-man situations and get the switches in, then we could have had more from the game. We also need to be better in possession so we have that control to help hurt an opponent.''
