What Cristiano Ronaldo has done to help Antony settle at Manchester United

Manchester United winger Antony has spoken of his admiration for teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and how the Portuguese veteran has helped him settle into his new surroundings.

Antony arrived from Ajax in the summer and hit the ground running with a debut goal in the Premier League win over Arsenal last month.

He says Ronaldo, who is in his second spell at Old Trafford, has acted as something of a mentor in the early part of his United career. The two players are at opposite ends of their respective careers, with 37-year-old Ronaldo 15 years older than Antony.

Speaking to ESPN Brazil, Antony said: "I'm feeling very happy, and I told this to him because we always follow up and have this dialogue. He always makes me feel comfortable. It looks like I have known him for a long time, and I told him this.

"He has a beautiful history and he is a huge reference for those who are younger than him. Something flashes in my mind, like we play video games [of him], watch him on television and right now I share some moments with him, for me it is very rewarding.

"Like I said, I'm still young. I am 22 years old and I'm learning a lot from him."

Antony will be hoping to make an impression when United travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City on Sunday. Should Erik ten Hag's side record a fifth straight league win they will move to within two points of their cross-city rivals having played a game less.
