What Casemiro did after Manchester United's friendly defeat to Real Madrid

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro reunited with some former teammates overnight as his side fell to a 2-0 defeat by Real Madrid in Houston.

Goals from Jude Bellingham and Joselu bookended the 90 minutes as United were handed their first defeat of pre-season at the NRG Stadium. Bellingham chipped a cool finish over Andre Onana inside six minutes before summer signing Joselu fired home an athletic bicycle kick with a minute of normal time left.

Casemiro got his first start of pre-season against his former side, having come off the bench during Saturday's 2-0 win over Arsenal. The 32-year-old was among several international players to report for pre-season training a little later, having played well into June with Brazil.

After full-time, he was spotted back on the pitch at the NRG Stadium reuniting with a few of his former Madrid teammates. The Brazilian formed part of a legendary midfield trio at the Bernabeu alongside Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, and the trio were enjoying a conversation for some time after the final whistle.

The vastly experienced unit spent eight years together in the Spanish capital, leading Los Blancos to multiple major honours including four Champions League titles and three La La Liga trophies. Carlo Ancelotti won them both in 2021/2022 and the Madrid manager could also be seen dropping in for a quick chat with his former midfield warrior.

Casemiro joined United in a £70million deal last summer, signing a four-year contract with the option of a further 12 months. The serial title winner made an instant
