What Brendan Rodgers has said about Youri Tielemans' future amid Arsenal transfer links
Youri Tielemans has been an integral part of Leicester City’s impressive recent form. The 25-year-old was one of their most consistent performers during their two successive fifth placed finishes in the 2019/20 and 20/21 seasons.
He also memorably netted the winner against Chelsea in the FA Cup final in the latter of those campaigns. Unsurprisingly Tielemans’ sensational performances have seen him linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are amongst the clubs reported to be interested in acquiring his services. And with the Belgian star out of contract next summer and yet to agree terms on a new deal, the Foxes are believed to be willing to listen to offers.

However, Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers revealed last season that he was keen for Tielemans to stay. Prior to their 2-0 defeat to Arsenal in March he told reporters: “He’s got a big choice to make at some point, Youri, but as I’ve repetitively said, we’ve no concern with his mentality, we’d love him to stay, we want him to stay, he’s been a massive part of my time here.
“It’s a real pleasure to work with him and see his progress as well but he has to take his time and decide and if he feels that this is the place for him to be, absolutely brilliant, we’ll be delighted, as will the supporters,
“But I always respect the choice of a player, as I’ve said many times, as long as they’re committed and give everything and behave as you’d expect then they’ll be no drama on that.”
Tielemans joined Leicester from Monaco in the summer of 2019 and has gone on to make 158 appearances for the club, scoring 24 goals and notching as many
