What are the Stockport council local election 2022 results?

Voters in Stockport have had their say in the 2022 local elections.

Twenty-one council seats were up for grabs in wards Bramhall North, Bramhall South and Woodford, Bredbury and Woodley, Bredbury Green and Romiley, Brinnington and Central, Cheadle and Gatley, Cheadle Hulme North, Cheadle Hulme South, Davenport and Cale Green, Edgeley and Cheadle Heath, Hazel Grove, Heald Green, Heatons North, Heatons South, Manor, Marple North, Marple South and High Lane, Offerton, Reddish North, Reddish South and Stepping Hill.

Ahead of the election the council was run by Labour despite the Lib Dems emerging as the largest group at last year’s local elections.

Local elections took place for more than 200 local authorities across the UK, including all 33 London boroughs and 34 metropolitan boroughs in England. In Greater Manchester seats were available in the region's 10 councils.

Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday, May 5, with the Stockport count expected to take place overnight on Thursday.
