'What a player' - Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez agree on Man United teammate after Brighton win

Manchester United duo Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw hailed teammate Diogo Dalot after he scored in Sunday's 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Dalot netted the opening goal of the game, putting United ahead with 73 minutes on the clock. He latched onto a straight ball over the top, brought it down and fired past Seagulls goalkeeper Jason Steele.

It marked his third goal of the season and his second in the Premier League. The Portuguese is a strong contender to be crowned United's Player of the Season after a solid campaign.

Reacting to United's final day victory on the south coast, Dalot posted on his Instagram page: "Best way to push us to next weekend at Wembley. Always special to score for this club."

And it is his performances and attitude in either role that may have triggered such praise from Martinez and Shaw in the replies to his Instagram post.

Martinez commented: "Toppppp." Shaw added: "What a player."

United have plans to strengthen their defensive options this season and the addition of a new right-back has not been ruled out. The club is understood to be continuing to monitor Bayer Leverkusen ace Jeremie Frimpong.

However, the Reds have identified the additions of a centre-back, a central midfielder and a forward as their leading objectives ahead of the transfer
