Wexford tear up Treaty to ease into semi-finals

Wexford sauntered into the last four of Sports Direct FAI Cup for the first time with a devastating display of attacking football in a one-side quarter-final clash at Ferrycarrig Park.

Fellow First Division outfit Treaty United simply had no answer to the fired-up hosts, who were four goals to the good at half-time thanks to doubles from Thomas Oluwa and Divin Isamala and, although Trpimir Vrljicak pulled a goal back late on, it was scant consolation for the visitors.

It was magnificent seven wins in a row in all competitions for James Keddy's men and this one was never in doubt as they stormed out the blocks, taking the lead with just five minutes on the clock having peppered the Treaty goal from the get-go.

Darragh Levingston sent in a cross from the right, which was helped back in the direction it came by Seán McHale, and Isamala clinically steered a header to the corner of the net.

Within three minutes the lead was doubled when Isamala sent a long ball forward for Thomas Oluwa to run onto.

The attacker got there ahead of goalkeeper Corey Chambers and was taken down, before stepping up to confidently stick away the resulting penalty himself.

It was 3-0 midway through the half when Luka Lovic knocked an Aaron Dobbs cross down for Isamala to finish from close range and they rounded of a dominant opening period when Oluwa also hit the back of the net for a second time, collecting a McHale pass and smartly shifting the ball to his left before applying a neat finish.

Half-time substitute Steven Healy had Treaty’s first effort of note two minutes after the change of ends, forcing a decent save out of netminder Conor Walsh.
