West Yorkshire mayoral election 2024 results in full

People across parts of Yorkshire have cast their vote in the West Yorkshire mayoral elections.

Those registered to vote in the local elections in for the local authorities of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield were eligible to vote in this election.

Mayors are typically elected for a period of four years, with no limit to the number of terms served. The candidates who stood in this year's mayoral election were incumbent Tracy Brabin (Labour), Bob Buxton (Yorkshire Party), Andrew Cooper (Green), Arnold Craven (Conservative), Stewart Golton (Liberal Democrats) and Jonathan Tilt (Independent).

The mayor of West Yorkshire has powers and responsibilities in relation to transport, economic development, provision of skills training and housing. The role includes the responsibilities of the police and crime commissioner for West Yorkshire, similar to the Mayor of London and the Mayor of Greater Manchester.

The vote took place simultaneously with local elections which are taking place across England and Yorkshire.

Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday, May 2 with the count taking place on Saturday, May 4. The results will be shown below when they have been announced after 3pm on Saturday.

The West Yorkshire mayoral election was held on the same day as the local elections, with more than 2,500 council seats up for grabs across 107 local authorities in England.

Mayoral elections took place in East Midland, Greater Manchester, Liverpool City Region, North East, London, West Midlands, York and North Yorkshire and Salford.
