West Ham working on deal to sign Man City prospect Carlos Borges

West Ham are working on a deal to sign young striker Carlos Borges from Manchester City.

The 19-year-old has scored 55 goals in 79 games for City at youth level, attracting interest from the Hammers, and a £14million transfer fee has been mooted.

City are developing a reputation for bringing in significant transfer fees for players developed in their academy, and Borges could be the next player to leave.

Goalkeeper James Trafford is on the brink of a move to Burnley for a fee that could rise to £19m, while Shea Charles moved to Southampton earlier this month for a fee that could rise to £15m. Sam Edozie, Gavin Bazunu and Romeo Lavia all left City to join Southampton for fees of £10m or more last summer.

Tommy Doyle and Taylor Harwood-Bellis are also expected to leave City having not travelled to the Far East for City's pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea.

Doyle and Harwood-Bellis spent last season on loan at Sheffield United and Burnley respectively, and both could be in line for returns to their loan clubs following their promotions to the Premier League.
