West Ham: Update emerges on David Moyes' summer transfer plans

West Ham have not drawn up a shortlist of potential summer targets yet, as claimed by transfer insider Dean Jones.

David Moyes’ side still have plenty to play for heading into the final weeks of the season, and it appears that they are shelving their plans for the off-season until the end of the campaign.

The Irons are currently still in the mix for a Champions League spot, although they face a tough battle to overhaul the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Wolves are also eyeing a place in the top seven, and there is a genuine possibility that West Ham could miss out on European football altogether.

One way that they could guarantee themselves a place in Europe next season would be to win the Europa League. The east London club are halfway through their quarter-final clash with Ligue 1 side Lyon in that competition.

The 2021/22 season is set to end in less than two months’ time, and a number of clubs will already have one eye on the summer transfer window.

West Ham are not one of them, according to Jones, who has stated that the Premier League outfit want to see where they finish in the table, and how they progress in Europe, before identifying who they could sign.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said: “One of the things I keep being told about West Ham is: ‘We’re not making a proper shortlist of targets yet because we don’t know exactly what we can offer people.’”

It is understandable that West Ham want to focus on matters on the pitch for the moment as they could still pick up silverware this season.

However, they need to make sure that they don’t get left behind when the window opens in June.
