West Ham plot bid to sign £27m-rated "beast", he can be a "top player" for Moyes - opinion

West Ham look set for a busy summer with plenty of rumoured departures from the club, and a number or players already linked with transfers to London Stadium.

One area that manager David Moyes is believed to have identified as somewhere the team needs improvement in is at the heart of the defence, with the likes of Nottingham Forest ace Joe Worrall and Liverpool star Joe Gomez both having already been rumoured to be of interest to the Hammers.

The latest defender to be linked with a move is Lille defender Sven Botman, who has been in demand for over a year now and could finally leave the French club this summer.

According to the Evening Standard, the East London club are tracking the Dutch 22-year-old, who has also been targeted by Premier League rivals Newcastle United and Serie A giants AC Milan.

Moyes has already admitted that the club will be looking to bolster the squad this Summer, saying in an interview with Standard Sport: “I see new players, I see a stronger squad, I see a change of the guard in some places because of what’s happening at the club. But that will be normal. We do have to make changes in the summer, we do need to look at how to move forward again.”

Being a 6 foot 4, left-footed, 22-year-old centre-back, who has excelled in the French top-flight over the last two seasons, since his £7.2m move from Ajax back in 2020, Botman is one of the hottest properties in Europe right now, and many clubs view him as someone they can build their backline around.
