Rangers faithful surely livid as Europe's "top clubs" show "big interest" in 25 y/o - opinion

Rangers are currently behind their rivals in a bid to retain the league title and more bad news could be afoot with Giovanni van Bronckhorst in danger of losing one of Ibrox’s star performers.

Speaking to Football FanCast, journalist and transfer insider Pete O’Rourke had this to say about Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos and his future beyond this latest campaign.

“He’s had another good season in Europe for Rangers scoring goals in the Europa League, so that’s going to attract big interest, I think, from top clubs across Europe as well.” 

As Rangers fans know by now, the Colombian has been a goalscoring revelation for the club since his arrival back in the 2017 summer transfer window from HJK Helsinki.

With 224 appearances under his belt across all competitions, the striker has scored 113 goals and provided 51 assists along the way, winning one league title in the process.

As O’Rourke mentioned, the 25-year-old has once again been in fine goalscoring form having found the back of the net 19 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions with four of them coming in nine Europa League games.

To highlight his attacking prowess even further, no other player in the SPFL has managed to rack up a higher average of shots per game (4.3) than the Ibrox icon, showing how much of a danger he is to opposing defences and goalkeepers who would presumably be relieved to see him gone.

If by the time the upcoming summer transfer window opens and Morelos has managed to end the season with more goals and assists to his record and possibly the Europa League and SPFL title as well, it would be easy to see many clubs sniffing around to see if they can sign him as a consistent goalscorer.
