West Ham now have 'free run' to sign £43m star at London Stadium

West Ham United could have a free run to sign Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca this summer according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

David Moyes appears eager to bolster his attack this summer and the Italian marksman has been strongly linked amid competition from Paris Saint-Germain. 

The latest bid lodged by the Hammers for Scamacca’s services was around £28 million and was rejected by Sassuolo but they are expected to return with a new bid. 

The Serie A side value their prized-asset at £43 million and with four years remaining on his contract will likely not feel obliged to sell for much below that. 

PSG were providing the Hammers with stiff competition for the 23-year-old’s signature but having completed the signing of Hugo Ekitike it remains to be seen whether their interest in Scamacca persists. 

Chelsea striker Armando Broja also remains on West Ham’s radar and, as things stand, there is nothing to suggest that they will not pursue the Albanian and Scamacca before deadline day. 

Now, Sheth has expressed his belief that the latest deal involving the Ligue 1 champions could work in West Ham’s favour. 

Sheth told GIVEMESPORT: “PSG have gone and brought in Hugo Etikike, so whether they will be going for Scamacca now remains up in the air. Whereas West Ham, it seems they’ve got a free run to try and sign him.”

There are many reason why Moyes is eager to bolster his attacking options this summer, despite Michail Antonio continuing to impress as the leading man in east London.
