"West Ham are definitely keen" - talkSPORT reporter drops exciting claim on £60m Moyes target

West Ham United are ‘definitely keen’ on striking a deal which will take Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips to the London Stadium, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

The Hammers will go into the final day of the season knowing they have already qualified for European football through their league position in successive campaigns for the first time in their history, so it seems boss David Moyes has already turned his attention towards securing reinforcements during the summer transfer window.

According to The Sun, Moyes has set his sights on adding Phillips to his central midfield options and wants to reunite the Leeds man with his international team-mate Declan Rice.

The report suggests the 19-cap England ace is also on Manchester United’s radar, but West Ham are eager to win the race for his signature.

It comes after the Hammers were frustrated in their efforts to seal the deal during the January transfer window, with Leeds turning down a £50million bid.

Additional competition for Phillips’ services comes from Aston Villa, who are willing to part with £60million in order to sign the 26-year-old, and Newcastle United.

Phillips’ Leeds contract, which is worth £38,000-per-week, is not due to expire until the summer of 2024.

Crook believes Phillips has a host of options at his disposal and among those on offer is a move to West Ham.

The talkSPORT reporter feels competing in Europe alongside England team-mate Rice will be appealing for the Leeds star.
