West Brom make a trio of changes at Reading as Matt Phillips in from start

West Bromwich Albion make three changes for the final away match of the season against Reading.

Steve Bruce has welcomed back the experience of Kyle Bartley and Matt Phillips, as well as Grady Diangana to the starting XI. It is Phillips' first start since recovering from a hamstring injury after several appearances as a substitute over recent weeks with Taylor Gardner-Hickman dropping down to the bench.

The 30-year-old Bartley comes in to replace Brighton and Hove Albion loanee Matt Clarke as part of the back three. Semi Ajayi and Dara O'Shea are again involved and expected to flank the centre-back in the middle.

Diangana comes in upfront for a first start since being hooked against Stoke City earlier this month. The 24-year-old did feature for a quarter of an hour against Coventry City last time out.

As anticipated, Andy Carroll does not feature for Albion following reports that the centre-forward will not be offered a contract extension this summer emerged on Friday afternoon. It appears that the 33-year-old has already kicked a ball as a Baggies player for the final time.

Zac Ashworth comes in onto the bench for the third time in the Championship this season but for the first occasion since Bruce arrived as Valerien Ismael 's replacement. The left-back will be eyeing a league debut, having appeared as a substitute in the FA Cup third round earlier this year against Brighton.
