West Brom have identified a 'future star' ready to unleash next season
If there’s one realistic ambition that West Brom and Steve Bruce can achieve before the end of this season, it’ll be to get striker Daryl Dike back out on the pitch fit and firing after what has been a frankly torrid start to life at The Hawthorns - in terms of his on-field fortunes, anyway.
Dike, 21, arrived at the club in January and was identified as the young man who would address Albion’s desperate form in front of goal, yet after just 50 minutes into his second appearance, he pulled up, limped off and we’ve not seen him since. That was late January.
While the USMNT forward has watched on from the stands, most likely infuriated by his situation and the inability he has had to help his new teammates while they’ve slipped down the table as if it were a greasy pole, Dike has been working around the clock to ensure that he returns in rude health. There has been a set-back recently, admittedly; Dike had been pencilled in to feature in Albion under 23s’ meeting with Nottingham Forest at The Hawthorns on Monday but that was put on hold after he felt his tendon in training prior to the Bristol City draw.
