West Brom: Boost over £9m star would be 'huge for Steve Bruce'

The return of Daryl Dike will be a huge boost for West Brom manager Steve Bruce, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Dike arrived in January, but he’s been out injured since suffering a hamstring problem soon after he signed.

It’s been incredibly frustrating few months for the American striker, who’s featured just twice for the Baggies since making the January switch from the MLS.

He came off the bench in the defeat at QPR soon after his arrival before making his full West Brom debut in the victory over Peterborough seven days later.

However, just 53 minutes into his first start for the club, he pulled up with a hamstring problem and hasn’t featured since.

When the £9m-rated striker sustained the injury, West Brom confirmed that he would be sidelined for around two months, meaning he would return at the end of March.

Therefore, with Dike now on the verge of coming back into the fold, O’Rourke has described his imminent return as “huge” for Steve Bruce, whose side have scored just seven goals in his eight Championship matches in charge.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “He’s been sidelined pretty much since his arrival but getting him back for the last few months of the season will be huge for Steve Bruce.”

Dike returned to training last week, although he missed the victory over Fulham on Tuesday.

However, the striker is in line to feature for the club’s Under-23s against Nottingham Forest on Monday, although Dike could be involved with the first-team on Saturday.
