Wes Foderingham's Paolo Di Canio gesture as incredible stat reveals true Sheffield United impact

Wes Foderingham's impact in a Sheffield United shirt this season is clear for all to see after yet another clean sheet in the midweek win over Blackburn Rovers.

The 31-year-old pulled off a stunning penalty save to keep his side in the match before Ben Davies netted a stoppage-time winner to send the Blades back into the top six.

That was his 12th shut-out of the season from just 18 appearances.

He has conceded only 11 goals, against an XG of 15.11 and made a total of 44 saves so far.

Indeed, it's 480 minutes since he was last beaten - that being Lyle Taylor's goal for Birmingham on February 4 and seven of those 11 clean sheets have come in the last eight matches.

More impressive, though, is his record between the sticks at Bramall Lane.

He has now gone 644 minutes without conceding a goal at home, which is the longest run by any keeper in Europe's top six divisions.

That solidity at the back has helped pave the way for Sheffield United to move into the top six on an incredible run of just one defeat in 15 matches.

His nickname is 'League One Wes', following a bust-up with former manager Paolo Di Canio from their time together at Swindon.

The former Sunderland boss launched a scathing attack on Foderingham after Swindon travelled to Preston for a league game.

After conceding two goals in the opening 10 minutes, Foderingham was substituted on 21 minutes and it led to a furious bust-up with the Italian.
