Wes Foderingham makes Reda Khadra admission after Sheffield United penalty save in Blackburn win

It's not uncommon these days for goalkeepers to have done their homework on the opposition players prior to kick-off.

Certainly when it comes to penalties, the shot-stopper has a list and a good idea what side they prefer.

That was the case for Wes Foderingham last night as Sheffield United entertained Blackburn Rovers.

The game's big turning point came in the 72nd minute when John Egan was penalised for handball and the visitors awarded a spot-kick.

With Charlie Goode having been sent off six minutes earlier, it was a real opportunity for Rovers to put themselves in a commanding position.

It was at this moment where Foderingham had to think back to his list of Blackburn penalty takers in a bid to try and second guess former Borussia Dortmund player Reda Khadra.

Khadra was not on the list.

"You do your homework, you have a look at the penalty takers before the game," Foderingham explained.

"Unfortunately, he [Khadra] wasn't on the list, so it was just one of those things.

"In recent games I have not had that much to do, but today a penalty comes up and I am glad I could do my part and make the save.

"You work hard all throughout the week and you do things right, you don't cut corners and a lot of the times, luck will be on your side.

"Like I say, you do the right things, you get a bit of fortune and today it was in my reach to come out and make the save."

It was yet another impressive moment for the keeper, who has kept 12 clean sheets in his 18 appearances so far this season.

He has conceded only 11
