Welsh Varsity 2024: Live updates as thousands of students descend on Swansea city centre to try claim victory over Cardiff

It's that time of year again - Varsity 2024 is here. Today is the annual event where Cardiff University and Swansea University compete in over 50 sporting events before the culmination of the day at this evening’s rugby matches.

Varsity is the country’s biggest student sporting event and arguably the most important day in both universities’ calendar. Students travel in their thousands to support their peers in the fiercely competitive contest.

This year the historic competition is in Swansea. Most events will be taking place at Swansea Bay Sports Park, with the rugby happening at the Swansea.com stadium.

Last year Cardiff won both the Varsity Shield and the rugby, but with Swansea back on home turf they will be hoping to benefit from the home advantage.
