Welcome to Miami! F1's 'Super Bowl' GP debut as title fight hots up

A gripping fight at the front, world champions aiming for a recovery and an all-new Grand Prix likened to the Super Bowl... get ready for a weekend to remember as Formula 1 heads Stateside for the inaugural Miami GP!

The fifth round of the 2022 season has a sprinkle of a USA stardust this weekend as the iconic city of Miami, Florida hosts its first-ever F1 race on a Miami Gardens street track that is set to thrill.

It is the first of two American races this year and all the action will be live on Sky Sports F1, with later starts.

Qualifying is live on Saturday at 9pm while Sunday's race begins at 8.30pm. There is also the welcome debut of W Series on Sky Sports in Miami, as a new season of the all-female championship kicks off.

F1's first four rounds, meanwhile, have seen fine racing, shocks and drama aplenty, with Charles Leclerc and Ferrari the current championship leaders, though Max Verstappen and Red Bull are gaining title momentum.

Next stop, the USA. F1... Welcome to Miami.

Verstappen's domination of the Emilia Romagna GP weekend has brought him right back into the championship fight after two DNFs in the first three races. Verstappen is now 28 points behind Charles Leclerc, who conversely finished outside of the top two for the first time this year in Imola and finished his race with a podium-costing crash.

Further back, there is plenty of intrigue at Mercedes for this weekend.

Mercedes are still yet to solve their issues on their W13 car with George Russell and a rather out-of-sorts Lewis Hamilton currently sitting fourth and seventh in the standings, and the seven-time world champion is already adamant he is out of the 2022 title fight.
