Weather warning issued across Greater Manchester this weekend

The Met Office has issued a weather warning as heavy rain hits Greater Manchester.

The warning - which covers the whole region as well as large parts of the north of England and north Wales - will come into force at 12am on Sunday (July 23). It will last all day, until 11.59pm.

Forecasters say heavy rain is 'likely to cause some disruption, particularly to outdoor events'. The Met Office has warned that spray and areas of standing water on roads could make journey times longer while bus and train services will probably be affected with journey times taking longer.

The forecast for the North West as a whole is: “Wet and gloomy for much of Saturday with outbreaks of rain throughout, heavy at times. A fresh breeze developing. Feeling cool under the persistent rain, though humidity building into the evening. Maximum temperature 17 °C.
