We simulated Newport County vs Manchester United to predict FA Cup fourth round clash

Manchester United face another clash against lower-league opposition on Sunday afternoon when Erik ten Hag's side face Newport County in the FA Cup fourth round.

Goals from Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes secured a 2-0 win for United against Wigan Atheltic in the FA Cup third round, setting up the clash with Newport County in the fourth round of the competition. The Welsh side have lost just two of their last 14 games, putting them 14th in League Two.

United will be without Andre Onana who is currently on international duty with Cameroon, meaning Altay Bayindir is set to make his first appearance for Ten Hag's side. Lisandro Martinez returned from injury for a cameo off the bench against Tottenham in United's last outing, and the Argentine could be set for his first start since September on Sunday.

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 24 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that the hosts could line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Townsend; Clarke, Bennett, Delaney; McLoughlin, Morris, Charsley, Wildig, Lewis; Evans, Bogle.

We predict that United could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Bayindir; Wan-Bissaka, Evans, Martinez, Dalot; Eriksen, Mainoo, McTominay; Amad, Hojlund, Rashford.

United made sure they eliminated any chances of an upset in the first few minutes of the game, with Ten Hag's side scoring twice in four minutes to go two goals ahead after just 11 minutes in south Wales. The first came when Amad Diallo skipped past his marker and drilled a fantastic ball across the box for Marcus Rashford
