United's most recent performance will have given Ralf Rangnick's side a major confidence boost ahead of their meeting with Atletico on Tuesday night, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring an impressive hat-trick to secure a 3-2 win over fellow top-four hopefuls Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. Ronaldo will be hoping for a repeat performance in midweek against his second-favourite opponent, with the 36-year-old having scored 25 times against Atletico in his career.

This tie is on a knife-edge ahead of the 2nd leg on Tuesday night. Anthony Elanga scored the crucial equaliser in the 1-1 draw in the 1st leg, after Joao Felix had given Simeone's side the lead, setting up a potentially tense 90 minutes or more at Old Trafford in the 2nd leg.
