We simulated Atletico Madrid vs Man United to get a score prediction

Manchester United get their UEFA Champions League knockout campaign underway on Wednesday night, as they face Atletico Madrid in the last 16 of the competition.

United overcame fierce rivals Leeds United in their last outing prior to their trip to Spain, as Ralf Rangnick's side won 4-2 at Elland Road, with goals from Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, Fred and Anthony Elanga securing the victory. This will be the first meeting between the two sides since 1991, where United lost 4-1 over two legs in the UEFA Cup Winners Cup.

Rangnick's side will go into this match unbeaten in their last nine away games in all competitions, whilst Atletico are struggling for wins, losing seven of their last 13 games.

After dropping out the side against Leeds, defensive trio Raphael Varane, Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles are all expected to rotate back into the starting XI, with Edinson Cavani a doubt ahead of the game.

We predict that Atletico could set up in a 4-4-2 formation, with their line-up as follows: Oblak, Vrsaljko, Savic, Gimenez, Reinildo; Llorente, Kondogbia, Koke, Lemar; Suarez, Correa.

We predict that Man United could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Telles; Fernandes, McTominay, Pogba; Rashford, Ronaldo, Sancho.

United controlled the opening stages of the game at the Wanda Metropolitano,
