We 'signed' Antony for Manchester United and Erik ten Hag's attacking issue was solved

Manchester United are keen on bringing in new signings before the end of the summer transfer window, and Ajax's Antony is being linked once again.

With Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro set to be unveiled as a United player this week, Erik ten Hag is reportedly showing no signs of slowing down in the transfer market. According to De Telegraaf, United had an €80million bid rejected for Antony, and the Brazilian was not included in Ajax's squad on Sunday.

According to the report, Ajax don't want to lose another key player this summer, with defender Lisandro Martinez and manager Ten Hag having already both moved to United. The Reds have been in the market for a new forward all summer, and it now appears that one of their top targets is trying to help force a move to Old Trafford.

So, if Antony was to make the move to United before the end of the transfer window, what sort of impact could he have at Old Trafford? We simulated the 2022/23 season with Antony in United's squad and this is what happened.

To set up this simulation, we used the Football Manager 2022 editor to arrange for Antony to join United, using FM22 to run the simulation. We also updated the rest of the Premier League with the latest transfers and results

Antony quickly adapted to English football and worked perfectly in Ten Hag's system, becoming a regular in the starting XI during his first season. In all competitions, Antony made 53 appearances, scoring eight and assisting 13 in that time.
