‘We scored three goals!’ – Ralf Rangnick and Harry Maguire fume at Man Utd decisions in 1-1 draw

Ralf Rangnick and Harry Maguire were not happy at Manchester United having two goals disallowed in their 1-1 draw with Burnley.

The Red Devils had the ball in the net three times in the first half but only Paul Poga’s opener stood with referee Mike Dean ruling out two efforts.

Raphael Varane’s header was ruled out after Maguire was ruled offside when he blocked Jay Rodriguez as he tried to track a runner.

United then had another goal chalked off shortly after Pogba’s opener when Josh Brownhill inadvertently turned a low cross into his own net but the Frenchman was judged to have fouled Erik Pieters in the build up.

Rangnick described the Pogba incident as a ‘soft decision’ while Maguire struggled to understand the reasons for both disallowed goals.

‘We scored three goals! That is different to Friday. The second one that was disallowed, the linesman flagged foul but 10 seconds after that incident. This was a very soft decision I must say,’ Rangnick said.

‘Again we played an excellent first half. We controlled and dominated the game. We scored the three goals but two were disallowed.

‘In the second half we were not aggressive enough. It was clear they would come out and be aggressive. The way we allowed them to score, we didn’t defend the whole situation.

‘A frustrating night for us because we should have won that game comfortably.

‘We scored three goals in the first half so I couldn’t blame the team for not having a killer instinct in the first half.
