"We're going to see a lot of places closing over the next year": Fears for Manchester's hospitality industry

The rising cost of energy has been a hit to businesses across the UK, with many feeling the squeeze as running costs continue to increase.

This has extended to the hospitality industry, with Greater Manchester night-time economy advisor Sacha Lord calling on the government to share a long term support plan after Liz Truss announced a sixth month support pledge.

With concerns over how bars, restaurants and more will cope with the rising energy costs, we want to know if you are concerned for the hospitality industry in Manchester.

Northern Quarter restaurant V-Rev announced that it would be reducing its opening hours due to the increased costs of 'utilities and stock', with one reader responding: "I was out in town yesterday afternoon/evening, it was dead.

"Talking to bar staff, they were all saying the same thing, that they're not getting enough people in to cover the cost of opening. We're going to see a lot of places closing over the next year."

Fears have been expressed by other establishments across the city, with a Prestwich curry house and a pub in Middleton both publicly airing their concerns.
