'We'll win the double' - Manchester United fans go wild after major Erik ten Hag 'update'

Manchester United fans are predicting trophies to soon follow after the club reportedly took another step towards appointing Erik ten Hag as their next permanent manager.

The Manchester Evening News understands a deal to bring Ten Hag to Old Trafford is almost complete, with any announcement due after the Dutch Cup final, which Ten Hag's Ajax lost on Sunday. Reports on Monday reiterated this point and official word could come this week.

Ten Hag will reportedly sign a three-year deal with United with the option of extending for a further year. Both United and Ajax will now negotiate a release clause for the manager, which is expected to cost around €2m.

Talks over who will make up Ten Hag's backroom staff are underway. Mitchell van der Gaag is expected to follow Ten Hag from Ajax to take up the role of assistant manager, while Steve McClaren and Robin van Persie have also been touted as options.

United fans have started to let their happiness be known on social media and also speculate about what this means for the club in the future. These are just a few of the replies from Twitter:
