We’ll play Ghana like our lives depend on it, says Ogunmodede

Super Eagles B interim gaffer, Daniel Ogunmodede, says that his players will approach Saturday’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying game against Ghana’s Black Galaxies as though their lives depend on it.

Fielding questions from reporters after Thursday’s training, Ogumodede admitted that the clash won’t be a stroll in the park for his boys, but assured that the all-important tie won’t be approached with kid gloves

The two perennial rivals settled for a scoreless stalemate in Accra on Sunday, raising fears that the return leg billed for the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday could once again end in Ghana’s favour because of the away goal rule. But Ogunmoded is beaming with confidence ahead of the clash telling those who care to listen that Nigeria will book the ticket to the finals of the competition early next year.

“We are doing everything to stay focused by avoiding any distractions. Yes, we got a scoreless draw in the first leg away and now playing at home, but we are not in any way carried away. Our objective was to score an away goal in Accra but that did not happen.

“On Saturday, we will approach the game like our lives depend on it. Our watchword is getting the win that will qualify us for the African Nations Championship finals coming up in East Africa,” he said
The eighth edition of the competition reserved for footballers plying their trade in their nation’s domestic leagues will take place across Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, from February 1 to 28, 2025.
