'We know...' - Sky Sports man buzzing over 'top-quality' star Leeds may now sign along with Roca
Former Leeds United goalkeeper Paul Robinson has been reacting to the club’s reported interest in Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino.
The Whites have already brought in Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen for Jesse Marsch this summer and appear to be closing in on a deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Marc Roca.
Minamino is another player of interest to Elland Road chiefs and will be able to leave Liverpool over the coming months if his £17m asking price is met.
The Whites have registered their interest in the 27-year-old, who starred under Marsch at Red Bull Salzburg, contributing to 20 goals in 22 games on the American’s watch.
Robinson, who contributes as a pundit for Sky Sports, was talking to MOT Leeds News regarding the Whites and Minamino. He labelled the Liverpool attacker a ‘top quality’ player who ‘would fit the bill’ at Elland Road, and hinted at a possible player-plus-cash deal which could take Raphinha to Anfield.
The 43-year-old said:
“It depends what type of player [Jesse] Marsch wants and who he wants for his system.
“We know Leeds have looked at Minamino before and if that’s the type of player he wants and he’s willing to come to Leeds, then he’s a top-quality player and he’s somebody who would fit the bill to play wide and as a striker as well.
“It just depends on what Marsch wants, what fits and what type of cash you can get as well as Minamino.
“That’s the type of player they need, somebody who can play wide or up the middle. It would broker a deal with Raphinha if he wants to move to Liverpool.
“And if you look at Liverpool’s front-three, is [Sadio] Mane going to be around? It doesn’t look like he’s not going to be there. [Mohamed] Salah’s moving into the last months of his contract.
