'We just can't do it!' - Fans slam Manchester United decision-making after Newcastle goal

A plethora of Manchester United supporters slammed the Reds' decision to try and play the ball out from the back in the build-up to Newcastle United's opening goal at St James' Park on Sunday afternoon.

After considering themselves fortunate to head into the half-time break with the scores still level at 0-0, United fell behind with 65 minutes on the clock. A well-worked Magpies move eventually saw the ball land on the head of Joe Willock and he simply couldn't miss, nodding the ball home from close quarters.

To Newcastle's credit, it was nothing more than what Eddie Howe's side had deserved, as they had dominated the game from the first minute. They created several chances in the first half and should have gone into the break with their noses in front.

The Reds had attempted to play the ball out from the back, taking unnecessary risks in the process, and Newcastle punished them, even though they still had a fair bit of work to do themselves.

Unsurprisingly, it was the manner in which United fell behind that angered their supporters, who had already expressed their frustrations with the Reds' overall showing up until that particular juncture. Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what United's fans had to say on social media:
