'We are told by senior sources' - Sky Sports drop huge live TV update on Man Utd's next manager

Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy has revealed that Manchester United now have a four-man shortlist for the managerial role.

United are already making preparations ahead of the summer in what is set to be a busy few months off the pitch at Old Trafford.

Ralf Rangnick is due to move into a consultancy role, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax’s Erik ten Hag name-checked as the leading candidates to come in and replace the interim manager.

However, it seems as if those two aren’t the only managers that the Red Devils have in mind.

Sky Sports dropped an update live on air regarding the club’s hunt for a new manager, revealing that Julen Lopetegui and Luis Enrique are two other options being discussed at board level alongside Pochettino and Ten Hag.

Senior reporter Reddy added that ‘we are told by senior sources that it would be a surprise if it didn’t come down’ to one of Pochettino and Ten Hag.

This update is extremely interesting and shows that, although Pochettino and Ten Hag are the favourites for the job, all of United’s eggs aren’t in that pair’s baskets.

Lopetegui and Enrique could well prove to be alternative options should United fail to land either of their two main targets, which could be a smart decision by the board.

It looks set to be a fascinating few months away from the pitch when it comes to a new manager and player contract extensions, with a much-needed shake-up looking set to take place at Old Trafford.
