'We are not going to stop' - Mikel Arteta sends Man City title message after Arsenal win

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes his side can still get better despite opening up a five point cushion to Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

The Gunners cruised past Everton 4-0 on Wednesday night in their game in hand on Pep Guardiola's side and reaffirmed their title credentials. And Arteta, while not being drawn on whether Arsenal are the title favourites having reached the 60 point barrier inside 25 games, said his players had the enthusiasm and drive to claim the Championship.

"What I like is that everyone has the enthusiasm to do it and we are not going to stop that, we have to promote it. And the way to promote it is to keep getting better," said Arteta.

Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli both scored shortly before the half time against Everton before Martin Odegaard added a third and Martinelli completed the rout. The victory opened up daylight at the top of the Premier League and also slashed City's goal difference advantage to six.

Arteta added: "I am really happy with the way we played, to win this game that we in hand, obviously, because it makes a big difference, and we have to continue the same way. We had some difficulties in the first 20/25 minutes against a side that is extremely well-organised, but I think, overall, we deserved to win the game again.

Asked about goal difference, the Arsenal manager said: "It is what it is. We want to score as many as possible; we know the importance that this can have, against any opponent, so we need to improve that as well."
