'We are Glasgow Celtic and we're only going up' - women's star delivers rousing address ahead of Helicopter Sunday

Chloe Craig insists proving Celtic’s critics wrong would be just champion.

The Hoops can claim a first-ever title with victory over Hibs on Sunday. Craig, Celtic’s longest-serving player, reckons that would prove a point for a side she believes have been underestimated. The defender said: “It would be incredible because a lot of people have written us off. They said we don’t have the ability to go out and win leagues and cups – and that put a fire right into us.. It is in our hands now to go and lift that trophy and if we do it then I think it will be a statement that we are here. We are Glasgow Celtic and the only way we are going is up.”

Rangers are waiting to pounce if Celtic slip up. Any dropped points could see Jo Potter’s side claim the title with victory over Partick Thistle. But Craig’s sole focus is on Celtic – and getting that priceless victory. She added: “I don’t think I can put into words what it would mean to me if we were to go and win it. But we can’t let ourselves think of that. It is one more game and we know we have to be fully focused.

“To win it here at Celtic Park, for the club I grew up supporting, it would just be a dream for me and my family. But we need to go out and perform and make sure that we get the three points we need.”

“It is a cliché but we hear them when we need them. It would be amazing to have a similar crowd that we saw for the game at the end of the season last term. There were times you couldn’t hear what was being said on the park and it was incredible.
