WBO title at stake as King of the Ring 2 holds in Lagos

• Ex-WBO Heavyweight champion, Herbie Hide, others to attend Boxing fans in Lagos and its environs will witness the best of entertainment on December 20, as the King of the Ring 2 yearly show holds at Eko Club in Surulere. The yearly boxing cum entertainment show is being organised by Monarch.

The first edition of King of the Ring 1 took place on December 22, 2018, at Landmark Event Centre, Lekki, Lagos, with three titled bouts. Since then, Monarch has held several other big and small boxing events.

This year, 10 bouts are lined up with vacant World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa Super Flyweight title at stake between England-based Pakistani fighter, Tasif Khan and Ghana’s Gabriel Laryea.

In the undercards, Nigeria’s UK-based Super Middleweight, Ezra Arenyeka, will take on Frank Dodzi of Ghana, while Victor Beneth battle Joseph Tetteh of Ghana in the light heavyweight category.

In the super lightweight category, Temirzhan Baimolda of Kazakhstan will face off with Waliu Arogundade of Nigeria, while the female Bantamweight contest will see youth Olympics silver medalist, Adijat Gbadamosi (6-0-0) battle Taiye Kodjo.

The grudge fight between Agege-based Warriors, Oluwasegun ‘Bouncing’ Mustapha and Hammed ‘Eshe’ Ganiyu is one to look out for as the duo battle for supremacy. There will also be four other highly anticipated bouts.

The King of the Ring 2 is Monarch’s year ending show that is known to marry boxing and music. Singer, Timi Dakolo, will be headlining the music end of the show. Other musical acts performing on the night are Jaywon, B-Tone, C-Prince and CDQ.
