Wayne Rooney reveals Jason Knight update ahead of Derby County’s clash v Millwall

There is some positive news for Derby ahead of their game against Millwall with Wayne Rooney revealing to Derbyshire Live that Jason Knight should be available for the game.

The 21-year-old has been a first-team regular this season, featuring in 25 league games and managing two goals and three assists. He’s been one of the shining stars in a season that has been rather dull for the Rams considering their off-field issues.

However, he and the rest of his team have kept things exciting and positive on the pitch and have even got an escape from the drop zone on their minds. They’re now sitting above both Barnsley and Peterborough in the standings despite a points deduction and aren’t too far from safety.

The next step in their battle to beat the odds and stay in the Championship will see them take on Millwall. The two face off on Wednesday night and another three points for Derby could bring them to within two points of Reading and second tier safety.

It makes the tie against the Lions important for the Rams – but after suffering an injury in the clash against Peterborough, some may have been worried that Jason Knight would have to sit out for this fixture.

However, there has been some good news on that front from boss Wayne Rooney, who revealed to Derbyshire Live that he should be able to feature in the game. He said: “Knighty [Jason Knight] is fine. He just picked up a knock towards the end of the Peterborough game.”

It means that the 21-year-old could play a part against Millwall and could help his side to another important victory.

The Verdict

Jason Knight has been one of a number of players – if not the entire Derby team to be fair – to step up to the mark this season, in spite of all the goings-on, and keep the Rams
