Wayne Rooney Admits He Changed His Studs To 'Hurt' Chelsea Star In Must-Win Match

​Rooney's upcoming documentary 'Rooney' will drop on Amazon Prime next Friday.

The Red Devils travelled to the capital in a bid to keep their slim title hopes alive, with the Blues in control. 

And Rooney had a devilish mindset, admitting he changed his studs before the game so he could 'hurt' someone on the pitch. 

Speaking in the documentary, he said: "I changed my studs before the game.

"I put longer studs in because I wanted to hurt someone."

Rooney continued by insisting the studs were legal, but were bigger than what he'd usually wear on his boots.

"If Chelsea won a point, they won the league," he added. "At that time, I couldn’t take it.

"The studs were legal, they were a legal size, but they were bigger than what I would normally wear."

Chelsea went onto win the match 3-0 thanks to goals from William Gallas, Joe Cole and Ricardo Carvalho.

The victory at Stamford Bridge saw them clinch the league title. 

Ironically, Rooney failed to see out the game as he was stretchered off for breaking his foot.
