WATCH | 'You've done so well and deserve the accolades,' President Ramaphosa tells Banyana captain

Banyana Banyana captain Refiloe Jane and President Cyril Ramaphosa had an engaging conversation as they walked together at the Union Buildings on Tuesday.

Ramaphosa, who like former president Nelson Mandela, has had the honour of watching a national team win a continental tournament, welcomed Banyana Banyana to his headquarters after they won their maiden Women's African Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Jane explained to Ramaphosa how excited they were when they landed at OR Tambo on Tuesday morning where they were greeted by excited crowds.

"When we came from the airport on Tuesday, it was such a beautiful thing," Jane told Ramaphosa as they walked at the Union Buildings.

"It was very nice to see and other provinces will also want to have the same thing and they'll ask why we're not doing the same thing there.

"It was so beautiful."

Ramaphosa, who was wearing a national team jersey and was in high spirits, was delighted by the team's achievement.

"You have done so, so well. You really have. We are very delighted and you deserve all the accolades," Ramaphosa said.
